Sea Wisdom 海慧

Sea Wisdom is about building dreams for the future.  Dreams lead to desires, desires lead to motivation, motivation leads to "flow", and flow leads to the desire to master the knowledge required to achieve your dreams. This chain of events builds a foundation upon which kids can acquire a sense of purpose.  This in turn leads to a sense of bliss and fulfillment.  People who dream big often contribute significantly to their society and the world around them.
 
Sea Wisdom is a sailing vessel which sails around the world inspiring underprivileged kids who live near the water, from coastal cities of the oceans to small island nations.  Many of these kids have never had the opportunity to see beyond their immediate circumstances.  Sea Wisdom shows them the joy of ocean sailing, sparking an interest in a vast library of subjects.
 
Learning is fun and natural when sailing on Sea Wisdom because sailing teaches:
 
-Why understanding math, physics and geometry can help you "fly" on water.
 
-How by just looking at the skies, using traditional sciences such as astronomy and meteorology, you have the freedom and power to navigate to all corners of the world.
 
-How the coolest computer and electronic gadgets can make life easier in a harsh environment.
 
-Why we need to protect the vastly beautiful and yet fragile ocean, the environment and the marine ecosystem upon which all life depends.
 
-Why knowing about world history, foreign languages and different cultures is fun, useful and even delicious.
 
Through the joy of sailing on Sea Wisdom, underprivileged kids around the world are inspired to dream beyond their present, and become motivated to learn and to achieve their dreams.

 

 

***The name "Sea Wisdom" is also the literal meaning of the Chinese name of Chloe Lee "海慧", one of the project's co-founders.  S/V Sea Wisdom is a 1987 Hinckley Sou'wester 42 Competition Sloop with St Francis Yacht Club as its home port.
